The 18-hole, par-72 championship course at Somersett Golf & Country Club was designed by Tom Kite and Roy Bechtol and stretches 7,252 yards from the back tees. The course is known for its dramatic elevation changes, bluegrass fairways, and challenging undulating greens. It incorporates 62 sand bunkers and seven lakes, requiring players to balance risk and precision.
The layout follows the natural desert terrain, with wide fairways that encourage aggressive play but demand accuracy to avoid hazards. The par-5 14th hole stands out as a double dogleg that weaves between water hazards, making it one of the most strategic holes on the course. The par-3 6th is another highlight, playing downhill into a bowl-shaped green, where wind and elevation shifts add an extra challenge.
The high desert environment and the course’s location against Peavine Mountain provide stunning views and unique playing conditions. Winds can be a factor, influencing club selection and strategy. The course offers five sets of tees and two combination layouts, making it accessible to golfers of all skill levels.
