About El Paso Country Club

El Paso Country Club, founded in 1906, is one of the oldest and most distinguished private clubs in the Southwest. Originally built as a nine-hole course, it moved to its current location in 1922, thanks to a land donation from Zack T. White. Situated near the Rio Grande in El Paso’s Upper Valley, the club offers a scenic retreat with lush fairways set against the Franklin Mountains. Over the decades, it has evolved into a full-service club, maintaining a reputation for tradition, excellence, and a strong sense of community.

The club features an 18-hole championship golf course, tennis facilities, a state-of-the-art fitness center, and a spa and wellness center. Members also enjoy a 25-meter heated swimming pool, sand volleyball courts, and multiple dining venues with views of the course. The clubhouse hosts a variety of social and business events, reinforcing its role as a central gathering place for members. With its historic charm, modern amenities, and scenic surroundings, El Paso Country Club continues to be a premier destination for private club members in West Texas.

The 18-hole championship course at El Paso Country Club is a par-71 layout spanning 6,781 yards. Unlike many desert courses in the region, it features lush fairways, mature cottonwood trees, and well-maintained greens. The course design rewards precision over power, with narrow landing areas, subtle elevation changes, and strategically placed bunkers.

Notable Course Features

Mature Tree-Lined Fairways - Many holes are framed by tall cottonwoods, requiring controlled tee shots.

Firm and Fast Greens - The putting surfaces are well-maintained but can be quick, making green reading essential.

Strategic Bunkering - Well-placed fairway and greenside bunkers test both long and short games.

Water Features - Several holes incorporate water hazards that influence shot selection.

Consistent Playing Conditions – The club prioritizes course upkeep, ensuring a reliable playing experience year-round.

El Paso Country Club’s course balances challenge and playability, making it a favored spot for both competitive and social golf. The classic parkland layout offers a distinct contrast to the desert-style courses commonly found in the region, solidifying its place as a staple of West Texas golf.
